“For the person with creative potential there is no wholeness except in using it.”
 Robert K. Greenleaf

It was raining, so I didn’t walk. I also didn’t make my protein smoothie for breakfast. Instead, I made pancakes. They were made from spelt flour, but they were pancakes none the less. Then I opened my Bible and asked Holy Spirit to show me why my heart seemed so restless this morning. And since I am reading the Message version this year, there was fresh emphasis on Jesus’s words:

“I came down from heaven, not to follow my own agenda, but to accomplish the will of the One who sent me. This, in a nutshell, is that will: that everything handed over to me by the Father be completed–not a single detail missed–and at the wrap up of time, I have everything and everyone put together, upright, and whole.” John 6:38-39 (MSG).

Listen, I’m all about revival! Seriously! My heart’s cry is to see the Church filled with God’s glory and reaching the world. I want to experience the full expression of who Jesus designed His Church to become, but sometimes, I think we believe revival is the end goal–when in fact, a revived Church is simply the means to the goal. The endgame is exactly what Jesus said, “…everything and everyone put together, upright, and whole.”

For me, the more I pursue creative expression, the more wholeness I experience. It is the way I bring God glory. Early in my walk with Jesus, I prayed that He would take my creativity and use it for His purposes. I wanted my gifts to be used to build His Church. I know now that we are the building blocks that make up His Church and that His design is to bring us into our inheritance of freedom in Him; and then use us to bring others into that same awareness.

I’ve also realized that my creative endeavors always seem to begin with words. That’s not surprising because words create worlds that didn’t exist before they were spoken. They are a creative force that can either put something together or tear something apart.

Just a few years ago, I began to write a blog. It quickly turned into a freelance writing business. This led to the creation of 8 Owls Publishing which is thriving today. What am I trying to get at? Just that I am again starting with a blog (this is the first of many). And, I have created a logo for a second business (newly created this morning). At this point, it’s just an idea, but I believe it to be a God-breathed idea birthed out of my restlessness; and because of that, I am creating a roadmap of words.

I will share more, and my logo will be tweaked and perfected…but in the meantime, if you are interested, here is the recipe for my spelt pancakes:
